Spring is Here!

April 23, 2010 Bloggies by Administrator Edit

It has been a while since I have written.  Spring is finally here!  It is a wonderful time of year to take pictures.  Trees and flowers are blooming, animals are coming out from hiding.  Grow, Grow, Grow!  Over the last 2 months I have been taking a photography class.  I have begun to take pictures in manual mode now, no more auto.  I am now in complete control of taking the picture.  I feel like they are even more my pictures than before.  For those of you that are new to SLR cameras, don't be afraid to learn about F-stop, Shutter speed, ISO, and White balance.  I was afraid I might mess up my camera if I did not know what I am doing but it was so simple to learn what to do.  Now it just takes lots of practice and experience to learn what situation to use each setting for but the basics were not hard.  I found an old pier in Milford that I have added a few pictures of and the bees are out drinking up the new flowers so there are a few of them as well.  I visited Bantam Lake and watched the sun set.  I have added a few pictures from there, and finally I have added some pictures from Southford Falls Park.  I hope everyone enjoys and I look forward to adding more as the spring turns to summer.

February snow

One morning last week, after the snow storm, I got up early because the sun and blue sky were so incredible. I went down to the beach before work to see if there were any interesting pictures to be taken.  The sun was coming up and casting a beautiful glow over everything.  All of the benches along the beach were piled with snow.  You could see the direction the wind blew the snow as it fell because the trees were covered on one side.  Everything was so crisp and clean.  The bright clear blue sky with the fresh clean white snow.  It was peaceful and relaxing.

Finally up and running

Today I have finally finished the website and turned on the shopping cart.  My photos are officially for sale.  There will always be tweaking to be done and things to update and modify, but it is fully functional now.  I enjoyed a little of the snow storm today.  I chased a squirrel with my camera for a little bit but he was to sneaky for me.  Then I found these red berries.  I enjoy the changing seasons but I am looking forward to spring when everything comes out again and the colors of nature are blooming.

Seagull Lunch

January 21, 2010 Bloggies by Administrator Edit

This past weekend was beautiful.  My husband and I took lunch down to the beach.  As we sat at a picnic table eatting, a seagull sat at the far end watching us.  I decided if he was going to watch I was going to take his picture.  I have been playing with the new lens I got for Christmas from my husband.  It is a Nikon 70-300mm lens.  I love the range of shots I can get with it.  The only downside I have found so far is that fast motion is a little hard to get it to focus fast enough.  Flying birds were a little tricky.  This seagull posed for me for about 15 minutes.  I got some beautiful shots before he finally decided to move on.  Then I found some other seagulls taking off and landing along the shore.  The great thing about this lens is that I don't have to get too close to things to get a close picture.  Which means I don't have to disturb anything.

Hello everyone!  I have never blogged before so bare with me.  I thought it might be interesting to talk a little about my photography hobby.  I love the outdoors so it reflects in my photos.  My Nikon and I are always together, whether I am on my way to work or just out for a drive.  You never know when a chance to get an interesting photo might occur.  I love taking pictures so much that I decided it was time to share that with other people.  That is why I started this website, so others might enjoy the photos that I have enjoyed taking.  This photo was one of my first on an older camera.  I love the roplets of water on the rose bud.  I actually hel the rose in my hand and took the picture.  It turned out to be a favorite! Thank you for visiting my site and I hope you enjoy!
